What is KimaAI?

KimaAI is a WordPress plugin that connects your site to modern AI providers and turns those models into practical tools you can actually use—starting with a smart, customizable AI assistant / chatbot that understands your website’s content.

It’s built for two kinds of users:

  • Site owners who want a powerful chatbot with minimal setup.
  • Developers who want hooks and internal APIs to extend the plugin and build custom AI-powered workflows.

What you can do with KimaAI

With KimaAI, you can:

  • Launch a customizable AI chatbot (choose provider/model, tweak behavior and UI, add quick actions, and optionally show an attention popover to introduce the assistant).
  • Make your assistant “content-aware” so it can answer using your site’s own material and guide visitors to relevant pages.
  • Boost answer quality with Vector Search using a vector database + embeddings (including multilingual embeddings for language-aware responses).
  • Collect feedback on chatbot replies to learn what’s working and improve over time.
  • Get started fast with a Setup Wizard, plus settings designed to stay maintainable and extensible.
  • Extend KimaAI with developer hooks/filters to register custom tools and control/observe tool calls.
  • Use multiple AI providers (for example, use one provider for chat and another for image generation).

The real power: content-aware AI on WordPress

KimaAI isn’t just “a chatbot.” Its strength is that it can stay grounded in your website’s content via content awareness + vector search—so visitors get answers that are tied to your pages, your posts, and your knowledge base.

What KimaAI is not

KimaAI is an integration layer for AI models—not a guarantee of perfect answers.

  • It doesn’t guarantee accuracy or appropriateness of AI-generated content, and you’re responsible for reviewing and managing outputs.
  • It’s not a full helpdesk/ticketing system (no built-in inbox workflows, agents, SLAs, etc.). It can assist with support-style conversations, but it’s not a replacement for dedicated support platforms.
  • It’s not a lead-capture/CRM plugin by default (no native gated content or email marketing automations out of the box).

What you pay for

1) AI provider costs (separate)

To use AI features, you’ll need to bring your own API key from the AI provider you choose (OpenAI, Azure-based services, and others). Any usage fees are paid to that provider under their terms—not to KimaAI.

2) KimaAI plugin (Free vs Pro)

KimaAI has a free version, and Pro plans that unlock all Pro features plus updates/support based on your license tier.
